Real estate is one of the best possible investments. With a down payment of 0% to 20% homeowners enjoy appreciation of the full value of a property.
• Purchase a $150,000 house that appreciates 3% per year with a 5% ($7,500) down payment. In five years the house would be worth $173,900, a $23,900 increase. Annual return on the $7,500 down payment is 63.7%.
• With lower down payments or greater appreciation returns will be greater. There are still zero down payment loans and FHA requires a 3.5% down payment.
• Zillow predicts 5.3% appreciation of Huntsville area real estate in 2016.
• Huntsville’s city planner predicts Huntsville will be the largest city in Alabama in ten years, increasing housing demand.
